From the 1870s, until it closed in the 1950s, Brown’s Soap Factory and its brands of detergents and toiletries became household names all over the UK and Republic of Ireland. Join Patricia Bogue from Donaghmore Historical Society as she documents the story of Browns and its sights, sounds and smells of the famous Soap Works of yesteryear. Diarmaid Hanna from the Royal Society of Chemistry will join Patricia in outlining the chemistry behind soap making.
